A Complete Guide to Jaipur
By Flyocat Travel Team
The forts and bazaars worth your time, plus how to see the Pink City in two unhurried days.
Jaipur has more to see than two days allows, which makes choosing well more useful than starting early. The forts sit outside the city and the old town is best on foot, so split the days accordingly.
1. Forts in the morning
The hill forts are exposed and get hot and busy by late morning. Going early changes both the light and the crowds.
2. Old city on foot
The walled city is a grid, which makes it unusually easy to walk. The bazaars are more interesting than any single monument inside it.
3. Pick one museum, not all of them
The palace complex and the observatory are both substantial. Doing one properly beats rushing both in an afternoon.
4. Use Jaipur as a hub
The city connects well to the rest of Rajasthan by road and rail, which makes it the natural first or last stop on a longer route.
5. Travel in the cooler months
Walking is central to the city and the heat makes that unpleasant for much of the year. The cooler months are worth planning around.
